A Wedding Celebration at The Red Lion, Newton, Lincolnshire

I first met Gavin and Victoria at a wedding fair at the Urban Hotel in Grantham. It was just after we were released from lockdown for the first time in 2020 so we were all excited, and slightly nervous, to be in a venue with actual people again after so long.

I knew as soon as we met that they were my kind of people and I wanted to work with them. I use this barometer all the time when I meet couples, I always go with my gut (and for the record, I was right).

The wedding fair was rightly a very careful affair, with face masks and hand sanitiser as far as the eye could see, so when I met Gav and Vikki at their home later for a consultation, it was lovely to put whole faces to names (within Covid guidelines of course).

They were planning a celebration at The Red Lion in Newton, Lincolnshire as their official wedding ceremony was going to take place in Cypress the month before, and they wanted to book a Lincolnshire Photographer to cover their day. They were praying for Covid restrictions to have eased enough to be able to travel, and luckily, they were.

By the time October 2021 came around, they'd managed to successfully get married in their dream location and plan their UK party without a hitch! Vikki got ready at a small cottage just up the lane from the traditional country pub and wedding venue where they were due to meet their family and friends in a few hours. Her mum, daughter, step daughter and Maid of Honour all chatted, sipped bubbles and had their hair and makeup done in the cosy rooms before heading upstairs to get their dresses on.

At the same time, Gavin was getting ready at his father-in-law's house with his groomsmen and their official ring bearer. Luckily for him, a fully stocked bar was giving freely of its contents and nobody was driving!

All the guests watched as Gav and Vikki arrived in the pouring rain, expertly chauffeured and shielded from the rain by Steve of White 7 Lincoln

The guests were treated to a three course meal, followed by speeches and shots! All accompanied by the video of their Cypress wedding projected onto the wall to show everyone exactly what a beautiful day they had.

The rain didn't let up for a minute, not even for the group portraits. Luckily, Leanne at The Red Lion had the perfect spot to allow us to take photos indoors, which we took full advantage of and got some beautiful styled shots.

Everything about Gav and Vikki's wedding pointed to the beginning of their adventure together, even their wedding cake supplied by Lisa at Nan's Nice Cakes which was cut just before the couple headed to the floor for their first dance.

Rain didn't interrupt their couple photos either, we headed outside with umbrellas and determination to get the most amazing shots of the day. I think we achieved it!
